Greetings from Cape Town!!! The whole country is infected with soccer fever, and blowing their vuvuzelas (horns). We will however miss a great deal of this while we will be going on outreach to Mozambique.
It has been a while since our last newsletter, and we would just like to give you an update on our lives.
It is a pleasure for us to welcome visitors to our place. At the end of 2009 and beginning 2010 we received several guests at our house: Jackie (USA); Miora (Madagascar); Josefine and Sarah (Sweden) and André and Maria (the Netherlands). We were quite pleased that André (Jaco’s brother) and his wife Maria, decided to take the long journey to South Africa, and to spend some time with us.
We hope you are all doing well and are surviving the economic crisis. Some of our friends in South Africa are struggling to find work or to get paid for jobs done.
Our friend Sjaak van Seters from Namibia recently visited us in Cape Town, on his way to The Netherlands. We always enjoy having him over for a few days, and he can also connect with our home group after they visited his church in Namibia.
Charmaine is still working at a shelter for abused women. It is a place of safety where women can go with their children to escape the abuse of their partners. Sometimes the women come from very traumatic circumstances, and we try to empower them and get them on their feet again. It is however only crisis intervention and they can stay in the shelter, for a maximum 3 months. Lees verder

Financially 2008 was not an easy year for us – mainly due to the economic problems worldwide, but also due to our own financial decisions. As some of you are aware of, we have invested in a project with a Dutch company. Lees verder
